Documentary VT about the lives of people who frequent Dublin’s picturesque Boardwalk area. The beauty of the riverside amenity belies an underbelly of drug dealing, prostitution, violence, homelessness and heroin addiction.

If The Auteurs is a round-the-clock film festival, an international online cinémathèque, then The Garage is a laboratory, a factory, a series of arguments and discussions and actions towards a new direction in independent filmmaking.

The Garage is not about one manifesto. The Garage is a call for manifestos, in the form of the moving image.

What does all this mean in practice?

Garage might be defined using various key-words. Atelier. Studio. Workshop. Or drawing on its French roots, where the original word meant Gathering and Shelter, to name but a few. In practice, it’s a specific branch within the MUBI site that exists to curate and showcase media created by emerging filmmakers.

Indiegogo is a terrific crowdfunding website where creatives can attract funding to their projects.  Caffeine is one such project and has already attracted some funding.  I’m trying to raise $5,000 to do some more filming next Spring. Click on the widget below to find out more or contribute.

The website for my soon-to-be-completed experimental short, Stumptown is now live. It’s a little sparse at the moment but expect plenty of updates as we get closer to online stage. It’s been entered into several international festivals and I’ll be updating as news comes in.

This atmospheric short tells the story of a man who has lost everything. He drives into the lonely mountains in an attempt to lose himself. An encounter with a ghostly figure causes him to question his perspectives.
