I’m a freelance visuals director based in Dublin. I specialise in concept to realisation workflows across a wide range of formats, media and genres. Whether it’s originating a new concept or bringing my visual and storytelling skills to an existing project, I excel under pressure and strive to get the very best out of every scene and every budget. For documentary, commercials, music promos, drama or factual entertainment I bring something unique to every frame.
I have a passion for peoples’ stories. Using my many years of filmmaking experience I try to bring these stories to the screen in a dynamic, visual and sensitive way. My core strengths are attention to detail, a keen interest in the way that we as people interact and live our lives and an extensive and multi-disciplinary background meaning I can leverage many different styles and approaches to achieve the right tone, to coax the best out of a story and to present it to an audience in a visually and emotionally engaging way.
I’m currently on a 12 month contract producing and directing Prime Time, the flagship current affairs programme for RTE, Ireland’s national broadcaster.

Caffeine – The Passion in the Cup
Caffeine is a feature documentary exploring the passions and dedication of a group of baristas and cafe owners from around the world as they
embark on a quiet revolution to change the world one humble bean at a time. By educating themselves on the providence of the bean, delving into every scientific detail of brewing coffee and by forming personal relationships with coffee farmers in the developing world, their goal is to change the way the world looks at coffee. These coffee nerds have started a grassroots movement based on quality of life for the farmer and quality of coffee in the cup. Their motivation is quality, not profit and their commitment and enthusiasm for coffee is mesmerising.
As the most traded commodity in the world after oil and one of the most exploitative industries for the coffee grower, coffee pervades every part of our global society and has done for hundreds of years. Can these young people, through travel, education, refining their skills and their unbridled passion change perceptions about coffee and in doing so create a fairer world?
This film follows several of these baristas as they embark on their global treks in search of the knowledge and connections they feel will give their public a better cup of coffee.
Featuring World Barista Champions Stephen Morrissey and James Hoffman, Caffeine journeys from Dublin to London, Ethiopia to Nicaragua and Vancouver to Los Angeles.
With over 40 hours of footage shot across four continents and with preparations being made for the next batch of filming, this documentary has a truly global reach. With passionate, engaging and curious characters the film portrays a new approach to Globalization that is positive and inspiring.

Caffeine project on Indiegogo
Indiegogo is a terrific crowdfunding website where creatives can attract funding to their projects. Caffeine is one such project and has already attracted some funding. I’m trying to raise $5,000 to do some more filming next Spring. Click on the widget below to find out more or contribute.
“IndieGoGo is a collaborative way to fund ideas. Founded on the principles of opportunity, transparency, choice, and action, IndieGoGo launched in 2008 to provide any idea (creative, cause or entrepreneurial) the tools and process to raise money, offer perks and keep 100% ownership. “Stumptown website now live
The website for my soon-to-be-completed experimental short, Stumptown is now live. It’s a little sparse at the moment but expect plenty of updates as we get closer to online stage. It’s been entered into several international festivals and I’ll be updating as news comes in.
There’s also a facebook page here.
Behance Network
I now have a profile on the excellent behance.net

Promo for documentary proposal
Here’s a promo for a short documentary I made a few months ago. It’s for the Filmboard’s Reality Bites short documentary scheme 2009.
The proposed documentary examines the relationship between artist and inspiration. It features artist Niamh O’Malley and composer George Higgs. The piece is produced by Arlene McGann and shot by Paddy Jordan on EX1.
